Hemp Seed Oil

Hemp seed oil

derived from the cannabis plant, is second only to soybean in protein content. Hemp seed oil contains vitamin B1, B2, B6, D & E as well as EFAs (essential fatty acids) and GLA (gamma-linoleic acid), which tend to greatly improve the hair condition and contribute to keratin formation, thus making the hair healthier and stronger. As well, GLA is also a ceramide source, which plays an important role of retaining protein and water. Because of the lipids present in hemp oil the increase in elasticity, volume and shine is observed. Due to Vitamin E and fatty acids present, the emollient action takes place, making the hair softer and preventing dehydration. Hemp seed oil has great moisturizing properties that can improve the condition of the scalp and hair. This is necessary for healthy hair especially in drier weather and climates, which tend to dry out skin and hair, so it is imperative to introduce and maintain some amount of moisture. In addition, it is easily absorbed by the scalp and hair. Hemp Oil strengthens hair to prevent breakage. When hair is excessively dry, it becomes weak and breaks easily. Hemp oil is able to maintain hair’s natural texture and make the scalp livelier to better support the hair.

According to a study conducted in Finland, hemp seed oil helps alleviate dermatitis, an inflammation of the skin. This is due to the balance of omega-6 and omega- 3 fatty acids. The study was carried out in 2005 by researcher J. Callaway and published in the 2005 "Journal of Dermatological Treatment." Callaway found that symptoms of skin dryness and itching significantly improved in dermatitis sufferers after using hemp.

Hemp seed oil is used in various cosmetics including skin creams, shampoos, shaving cream, lip balms and sun creams.  Hemp seed oil is a natural moisturizer and can help to make your skin feel smooth and soft while acting as a barrier and preventing moisture loss. Rich in vitamin D, increases calcium absorption to help achieve soft, smooth and hydrated skin.
